Released: April 2021 Label: Independent
Leeds based multi-instrumental bedroom producer George Bloomfield returns with ‘Reminiscent’, his second release from his upcoming E.P ‘Why Didn’t You?’ set for release on May the 7th. ‘Reminiscent’ opens with a gentle 2 chord motif laced with light tremolo and heavy reverb. A clean lead line provides the hook and is soon joined by well played but necessarily understated drums that do not dominate the other instruments or wake one from sleep via the crack of the snare. Within 3:30 the track manages to have significant sections. Around a third of the way in a wordless entrance from an unnamed female vocalist cascades through 3 notes as the guitar takes an improvisational moment - the whole thing suddenly becoming something of a waterfall - with the percussion significantly increasing in content but not volume.
What really sets the work apart is the gentle brass section that mournfully joins the crusade, that has by the end of the track evolved into a punctuated statement of triumph. I greatly anticipate the release of George’s E.P ‘Why Didn’t You?’ as musicianship and sensitivity of this nature is truly what I strive to promote as Bedroom Frequencies. The artist allows for tenderness, intensity, romance, sleep and smoke. He provides a much needed shot in the arm of purity for these continually troubling times.
